How does P2P file sharing use a VPN?

P2P distributes files through multiple nodes. When using a P2P-enabled VPN server, traffic related to the file sharing application goes through the VPN tunnel, and other nodes typically see the VPN egress address.

ZoogVPN works with P2P apps like uTorrent. Establish a VPN connection before starting the transfer, and make sure the app is not excluded from split tunneling.

Server and connection protocols

The application provides connection protocols such as OpenVPN and IKEv2. Server location, protocol, and local network all affect connection performance; if one location is slow, try another location among the available P2P servers.

When selecting a server, the support currently displayed by the application shall prevail. Closer distance usually helps reduce latency, but node availability and actual load also affect transfers.

Differences between free and premium usage

The free plan is good for learning how to connect first, then choosing a plan based on file size, number of devices, and available locations. The traffic quota and number of devices need to be confirmed together with the specific subscription status.

When transmission is slow, check item by item

VPNs provide connection protection and are not responsible for determining whether the files themselves are safe. The transferred content, file source and application permissions should be confirmed separately.

  1. Verify that the file still has enough nodes available; changing VPNs when there are not enough nodes does not necessarily improve speeds.
  2. Check whether the local upload speed is fully occupied to avoid uploading from crowding out other traffic.
  3. Try a different location or protocol on a server that supports P2P.
  4. Check if the app is suspended by a Kill Switch, system firewall, or hibernation settings.
  5. Keep an eye on VPN status during long transfers to avoid continuing to use a regular connection after being disconnected.

If you already have an account, you can use your registered email address to log in within the ZoogVPN app. New users can register through the app's account creation portal; the same account can be used on supported platforms.

Select password reset on the app login interface, use your registered email address to receive emails, and check your spam folder. If you still cannot restore access, please contact the support team.

Packages, Renewals and Refunds

Please check where your subscription was purchased. Subscriptions purchased from the app store are managed by the corresponding store; for other billing issues, please provide your registered email address, payment date and order information and contact the support team. Deleting the app will not cancel renewal.

Use your device or browser's built-in password manager to generate a long enough random password for ZoogVPN and save it. Don’t reuse passwords for email, social networking sites, or other services.

Use the password reset function on the app login screen. Confirm that the reset email comes from the intended service, and then follow the prompts; there is no need to send passwords or verification codes to customer service.
